The Old Exchange is nestled in the heart of the beautiful National Trust Estate of Threave Castle and Gardens, set on the nature trail that links the internationally renowned Threave Gardens to the magnificent historic ruins of Threave Castle.
The Architect designed conversion of the exchange building for 4 self catering holiday apartments for parties of 3 or 4, was completed in 2005.
Carlingwark Suite is almost a mirror image of Rockcliffe Suite. They are both suited for sleeping 4 people in comfort (cot and high chair if required). Recently converted they are a lovely mixture of old architecture and contemporary interior styling. Architect designed for self catering holidays. They are bright with south facing living rooms and kitchens and dining areas. Each has a double bedroom and twin bedroom and bathroom, open plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen is highly appointed with new oven, hobs & microwave..............We believe that everything you could wish for is provided for you to simply arrive and enjoy your holiday
What you can expect to find here when you arrive:-
We provide a welcome package of some freshly baked rolls, fresh milk, some cheese,,jam, marmalade, coffee, tea & sugar. Freshly laundered sheets, bath mats, towels & soap. All pots and pans and dishes for 4. There is a dishwasher (soap provided), fridge (with small freezer compartment), and microwave. The living room has a TV, DVD & video. There is also a portable Radio/CD. The bedrooms have a wardrobe for each person, The beds have Duvets (10 tog) also a cosy throw (each person has 2 pillows). Mattress and pillows also have hygienic covers that are also cleaned meticulously. The bathroom has a bath with a shower, heated towel rail with plenty of towels (toilet roll is supplied).The bathroom is very clean and cosy. Outside there is a shared laundry room with a washer, a dryer, a sink (also an additional toilet and shower) which also acts as a wet room
Threave and Kelton Studios
Both are suited for snugly accommodating 3 people in comfort (2 adults & 1 child, also a cot and high chair if required). Recently converted they are a lovely mixture of old architecture and contemporary interior styling. Located upstairs they are compact & bright with south facing living rooms and kitchens and dining areas. Each has a double bedroom and single bedroom (that is accessed from the double) and a bathroom, open plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen is small but highly appointed with new oven - hobs & microwave. We are lucky to be at the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. This is the traditional Market Town of the area and is now known as the regions 'Food Town'
Rugged Solway Coast
The Old Exchange is set just a few miles from the Solway Coast. There are dramaitc cliff top walks, wonderful rocky beaches and some of the most remote and flat sandy beaches.
This plays host to some fantastic wildlife and especialy good is the birdwatching.
Threave Castle and Estate
Once home to the Black Douglases, and built by Archibald the grim. Threave Castle is a small walk and a boat ride away.
One of the most Romantic Castles in Scotland, it has a rich history and is literally on your doorstep.

These are 7 fantastic cycle track set in the forests of Dumfries and Galloway. The Old Exchange is set in the middle of them all.

Threave Gardens
We are very lucky to be so close to Threave Gardens. This is an internationally recognised National trust for Scotland garden and is simply wonderful in the Summer
