From Castle Douglas take the B736 to Auchencairn. Follow the B736 until it joins the A711. Follow A711 to Auchencairn, then turn left just after the bridge onto Shore Road. Craigshall Cottage is the third house on the laft, past the bowling green.

Follow M74 South until J15 Moffat/Dumfries. Follow signs for Dumfries. At the junction with the A75, follow signs for Stranraer until Castle Douglas/Auchencairn signpost off roundabout then turn left. Drive through Castle Douglas then follow B736 signpost to Auchencairn. Follow the B736 until it joins the A711. Follow A711 to Auchencairn, then turn left just after the bridge onto Shore Road. Craigshall Cottage is the third house on the laft, past the bowling green.

Connect to Dumfries via Carlisle. Taxi or bus from Dumfries to Auchencairn (20 miles).
