Information enquiry Booking

Livet Cottage is a traditional stone Scottish cottage set in a quiet position, yet only 200yards from the centre of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands. Sleeping 6 people in 2 double (1 on ground floor) and 1 twin room, the cottage has a spacious, comfortable lounge with a woodburning stove, TV., DVD., and video player, a fully fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine and a ground floor bathroom. Outside is a patio area with table chairs and barbecue.
A well behaved dog is welcome at no extra charge. A cot and highchair are available.
Tomintoul, the little village with a big heart, has a post office and general store/newsagents, gift shops, galleries, tea rooms, hotels and restaurants as well as various leisure facilities, including horse riding – all within a short walk of the cottage. Set in the beautiful Glenlivet Estate in the fabulous Cairngorm National Park, it is the ideal centre for a holiday, whether you want to enjoy the amazing scenery, walk, ride, fish, paint or explore off the beaten track on a safari with one of the estate rangers. It is also in the centre of both the whisky and castle trails and only a drive from the coast, Inverness or Aberdeen.

For those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, Livet Cottage is in the ideal situation. It is surrounded by many beautiful walks through forests and by meandering rivers or over mountains and wide open tracks of grass and heather. The Glenlivet Estate rangers can take you on safari, by 4x4 or on foot, to show you the hidden beauties off the beaten track and point out the abundance of wildlife including Golden Eagles and capercaillie or see the stag rut in October. With the many rivers, salmon and trout fishing is available nearby and licences can be obtained in the local post office. Horse riding, outdoor bowls and tennis are all within a few hundred yards of the cottage. Local craft shops run short courses in stain glass and ceramics. The third week-end in July sees the village Highland Games with piping bands, dancing, caber tossing, stalls and much more. Skiing is available at the Lecht, only 5 miles away or at Cairngorm, about 30mins. drive. There are also golf courses nearby, the nearest being at Ballindalloch In the midst of the whisky trail , Tomintoul has its own distillery and the famous Glenlivet and Glenfiddich distilleries are amongst many, where you can have a tour culminating in a complimentary ” wee dram”! On a more sober note, it is also on the castle trail, with several castles nearby and Balmoral only about 30mins. drive.
An hour’s drive will take you to the miles of beaches on the North coast, to see the seal colony at Findhorn or dolphin watching near the city of Inverness and only a little further to Loch Ness. For those who really must, there are excellent shopping centres at Inverness and Aberdeen, where there are also airports.
You will receive a warm welcome at Livet Cottage, from Catherine Tomlinson and her family. We also offer some little extras at Christmas, New Year (Hogmanay) and Easter or for our guests special occasions such as honeymoon or anniversaries or we will try to help arrange surprises for our guests if one of a party has a birthday etc. Please enquire when you book.
