Getting there from the Information Centre

From Edinburgh & Scotland Information Centre – Princes Street

• From the Tourist Information Centre go to Princess Street
• Turn right and walk along to just past the Balmoral Hotel
• Walk up North Bridge until junction with Royal Mile
• Cross the road and walk down the Royal Mile
• Walk past the Raddison hotel until you get South Grays Close
• Turn into the close and walk all the way to the bottom
• The hotel is at the bottom of the close

Getting There by Car

From the West
• From the M8 eastbound, follow signs for the city bypass A720, northbound towards Edinburgh West
• At the Gogar roundabout take the 2nd exit, the merge onto Glasgow Road-A8(signposted City Centre) Entering Edinburgh
• Continue forward onto Glasgow road and at Drumbrae Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto St Johns Road-A8 (signposted City Centre)
• At Haymarket follow signs Dalkeith and East, then at T-junction turn left onto Morrison Street – B700
• Continue forward onto Bread Street, then bear left onto West Port
• Continue forward onto Grassmarket, bear right onto Cowgatehead, bear left onto Cowgate
• The Express by Holiday Inn Royal Mile is situated on the left.

Getting There by Railway

Main operators are First ScotRail, GNER & Virgin Trains. Edinburgh Waverley Station – 0.7 km
Edinburgh Haymarket Station – 2.5km
From Edinburgh Waverley station take the exit toward Market Street, take the steps beside the Escape Health Club to bring you up level to North Bridge, (to avoid the steps you can proceed up Cockburn Street which will bring you onto Royal Mile, head downward away from the Caste and follow directions as below). Turn right and walk to the traffic lights, make a left on to Royal Mile (also known as High Street). Walk down the street to the Museum of Childhood on the right side and go down South Gray's Close just next to it. Go past St Patrick Church, the Express by Holiday Inn Edinburgh-Royal Mile hotel is at the end of the close.

Follow signs for A8/City Centre until you reach Haymarket. Follow signs for Dalkeith & East, left onto Morrison Street, then bear left onto West Port, forward onto Grassmarket, bear right onto Cowgatehead, bear left onto Cowgate. The hotel is on the left.

From Zeebrugge Ferry Rosyth, in Fife
• Approach Edinburgh on the A90, just over the Forth Road Bridge
• Follow signs for City Centre along Queensferry Road
• At roundabout take 2nd exit onto Queensferry Terrace and continue forward onto Belford Road, Douglas Gardens and Palmerston Place
• Then turn left onto Torphichen Street – A8, at end bear right then at T-junction turn left onto Morrison Street – B700
• Continue forward onto Bread Street, then bear left onto West Port
• Continue forward onto Grassmarket, bear right onto Cowgatehead, bear left onto Cowgate
