Millhill Farm

Quality Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. 2 miles west of Dumfries. Fabulous views, small working farm in a country environment but with all the luxuries of a hotel.

Set high upon the hill above the old Glen just 2 miles west of Dumfries Town Centre, Millhill Farm is a luxury Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. The farm, which is over 150 years old, has a milling background, but is now a small working farm with free range British Saddleback Pigs, beef cattle, sheep and turkeys at Christmas time.

We also keep horses and can cater for equine visitors if required. Please enquire for information on the famous ‘Guid Nichburris’ ride outs in spring and summer, a great excuse for a holiday with your horse.

Our accommodation within the farmhouse has been purposely built in a way to make guests feel welcome and as if they have their own part of the house to relax in. Everything has been chosen with great care to make sure you only have the very best.

We pride ourselves on our food which is cooked on our cast iron range cooker. We produce our own bacon and sausages from our rare breed pigs, our own free range eggs and use locally produced quality fresh ingredients in our cooking.

THE ROOMS

Our 2 rooms are well furnished and are tastefully decorated. Our bed linen is all high quality pure Egyptian Cotton along as are the thick and luxurious towels and bathrobes.

Each bathroom has plentiful Loccitaine toiletries and both bathrooms have heated floors.

The Garden Room is on the ground floor and overlooks the side garden. This room has a double bed and a contemporary shower room with an enormous monsoon shower head over a large enclosure (big enough for two!)

The ‘Den’ is on the first floor at the top of it’s own staircase. This room has a beautiful Kingsize Mahogany Sleigh bed with a cosy natural stone tiled bathroom with a large Jacuzzi bath in the bay window. This bedroom has particularly lovely views of Dumfries and the hills beyond.


The Dining Room

Our light and airy dining room has the benefit of fabulous views over Dumfriesshire. The oak floored room opens out into the garden which is a fabulous sun trap and on warm mornings you can choose to have your breakfast on the terrace.

Guests have sole use of the dining room where they can relax in the armchairs by the woodburning stove and read or listen to music from the Bose stereo. There is always a good selection of CD’s and magazines to choose from.

Breakfast is served at your own table and consists of quality local ingredients. There are porridge oats, selection of cereals, fresh fruits, smoothies and luxury yoghurts and of course the full Scottish Breakfast. You will sample the finest sausages and bacon, all from our own free-range rare breed pigs, local free-range eggs and where ever possible we use organic produce.

Leisure

Dumfries and Galloway offers mountain bikers several superb routes. There are routes to challenge all abilities.

There are many good fishing rivers in the area, ie, The Nith, Annan, Cairn, all landing quality salmon and sea trout.

We have some outstanding Castles to visit within 20 minutes drive, all part of Dumfriesshire’s rich tapestry of historical beauty

We have golf courses galore and driving ranges all within 3 miles of Millhill. We are ideally situated for serious golfers or those wishing to brush up on their skills

Prices are based on two people sharing, including full Scottish breakfast.

Double Room £75 per night.
Single person occupancy is £55 per night including breakfast.
