Grange Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

Grange Farmhouse House Front

Information enquiry Booking

Grange Farmhouse is set in farm land one mile to the south of Grange Farmhouse is set in farm land one mile to the south of Dunfermline, with an open outlook towards the River Forth. Originally the site was occupied by a ferm toun which most probably supplied agricultural produce to the monks of Dunfermline Abbey back in the 12th and 13th centuries.

The house was built in the 19th century and ceased to be part of a working farm in the 1950s; it has been converted into a family home and during the past 20 years the present owners have extended the property and modified and redecorated the interior to a high standard of comfort and convenience.

Mary and Tom extend a warm welcome to you to come to stay at Grange Farmhouse.

DUNFERMLINE
A mile to the north of Grange Farmhouse is Dunfermline, ancient capital of Scotland. The town assumed prominence in the 11th century with the arrival of King Malcolm Canmore who first built a fortress against the Picts, later Queen Margaret added a priory. This was later expanded into an abbey for the arrival of Black
Monks from Canterbury, who supplanted the original Culdee Monks. Scottish kings residing in Dunfermline provided funds to build a palace which was later burned down by King Edward of England, rebuilt until it was trashed during the reformation of the church in 1560. The legacy today is a magnificent Norman Abbey, a Church of Scotland and the palace ruins.

Other 'must sees' in Dunfermline are the Carnegie Birthplace Museum and the Abbot House Heritage Centre all within a quarter of a mile of each other. A little further away is the village of Culross (Cuileann Ros - Gaelic for Holly Point) allegedly the childhood home of St. Mungo the patron saint of Glasgow. The village has a restored merchant's house and a town house with a clock tower built during the 17th century at a time when Culross
was an important coal and salt producer. A visitor centre and access to the houses are organised by the National Trust for Scotland.
A range of brochures giving details of many local attractions are available in house and we will be pleased to give guidance about other destinations which you have in mind.

Dunfermline boasts a wide range of restaurants and bar food; to help you choose, we have a selection of sample menus.

We are close to the national motorway network; the nearest motorway, the M90, is two miles away and provides quick access to Edinburgh (15 miles) and Perth (30 miles).
Junctions with the M9 to Stirling (30 miles) and the M8 to Glasgow (45 miles) are within easy reach via the A90/A8000 link roads.

Bus and rail transport to most parts of Scotland is readily available from Dunfermline coach and rail stations. A Park-and-Ride terminal at Ferrytoll, Inverkeithing (2 miles) provides a ten minute interval bus service to central Edinburgh.
