A tastefully refurbished listed miner’s cottage with stunning views over the historic village of Wanlockhead. There is a raised garden to the rear with uninterrupted views over the mountains.

To the west of the M74 in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway, Wanlockhead is Scotland's highest village at 467m or 1531ft. Known as "God's Treasure House", it owes its existence to the lead, gold and silver found under the surrounding countryside.

Village museum, miner’s library and guided tour of a real lead mine and 2 period miner’s cottages amongst the many interesting features to explore.
The village has a cosy pub within easy walking distance of the cottage with good food and very friendly locals. Golf course 1 mile away. Perfect for relaxing, hiking or more strenuous walking up mountains with breathtaking scenery to enjoy. Horse riding available nearby. The long distance footpath, the Southern Upland Way passes directly through the village.

Mitchell Cottage is high in the Lowther Hills in beautiful Wanlockhead, Scotland’s highest village.
The cottage has designer interior blending antique furniture with modern comfort. There is a real flame solid fuel central heating system with fuel provided within the cost of your stay. There is alternative electric heating. The open plan fully equipped kitchen and dining area is highly appointed with new oven, hob & microwave oven. The smart and comfortable living room has a TV and DVD player and a comfortable bed settee. There is one large bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathroom with a convenient walk-in shower. Towels and bed linen are provided. Mitchell cottage has its own parking area. Pets are welcome. Sleeps 2-4. We believe that everything you could wish for is provided for you to simply arrive and enjoy your holiday.

What you can expect to find here when you arrive:-
You will find freshly laundered sheets, bath mats and towels, all pots and pans and dishes. There is a fridge, a large freezer and a microwave. In winter the fire will be lit. The bedroom is warm and comfortable and the bed settee folds down easily into a proper metal frame bed. There are Duvets and also a cosy throw (each person has 2 pillows). Mattress and pillows also have hygienic covers that are also cleaned meticulously. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with plenty of towels (toilet rolls are also supplied).The bathroom is very clean warm and cosy. Outside there is a court yard and extensive garden.
