Island View Cottage

Just 3 miles north of Ullapool, Ardmair is a tiny hamlet that, for the most part, hugs the coastline.

The location of Island View Cottage is exceptional at any time of the year and the views from windows at the rear of the property are breathtaking. Open the back door, go through the gate and walk down the steps onto a soft shingle beach. The sea is (almost) literally on the doorstep. We love the cottage with a passion due in no small measure to the fact that our family association with it is a direct line through several generations.

We are delighted to share this treasure with you.

Our grandfather built the present cottage on the site of the original thatched cottage and over the years it has been extended to accommodate modern living.
It now boasts a sizeable extension at the back which comprises a large kitchen/dining area, a sun room and a shower room. The original part of the building offers three bedrooms, a bathroom and a sitting room with an open fire.

Island View has recently been refurbished but care has been taken to preserve some of the original features, e.g. the internal doors and the wood lining on the walls, thus helping to retain the ambience of a real Highland cottage.

This location has something to offer all ages. You can enjoy the sedentary pleasure of simply watching the everchanging views across the sea, a slightly more exertive stroll along the shore, an invigorating walk in the hills and of course, if you enjoy water sports, how much more accessible can the sea be?

For those who like shopping, Ullapool is the local metropolis. In addition to the requisite supermarket, butcher, Post Office, pharmacy etc, you can browse through antiques, leather goods, chocolates, pottery, tweeds, shortbread, books .... ... the list goes on.

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out as Ullapool has many fine restaurants to choose from.

Perhaps the Leisure Centre with its gym and swimming pool will prove attractive or maybe the museum which exhibits many local, historical artefacts.

All in all, Island View Cottage and its location combine to provide the ingredients of a wonderful holiday
