Brackenbury - Images
Spend your holiday in Brackenbury, a home from home in the Outer Hebrides. Far enough out of town to be peaceful and relaxing, but close enough to catch a bus, or walk in to enjoy the facilities of Stornoway.
Light airy rooms with a view.
Watch the ferry come into the harbour and the changing light across the bay. Or curl up and read in comfort - the king size beds have nearly a thousand pocket springs to support every bone in your body.
Make the most of any bad weather.
There is an open fire to make things extra cosy, as well as a 32" TV with DVD and surround sound to make you forget the world outside. There is a small selection of mostly family DVDs for you to watch, and you can always bring your favourites with you.
BOOK DIRECT FOR A £20 VOUCHER towards having some glorious "me time", creating your own piece of holiday art with Jane at the Blue Pig Studio. Jane has a lovely way of inspiring and guiding you just as much as you need, and will help you to incorporate your own ideas and holiday photos into your finished piece. Let us make the booking for you, or save the voucher for a rainy day of your choice.
The kitchen makes cooking a pleasure.
Go mad and get out the baking tins, or cook bacon and burgers in a jiffy in the fat reducing grill. Enjoy using really sharp knives (stored on a rack above the reach of small children!) and treat yourself to filter coffee. Alternatively, take full advantage of the wide range of local eateries and enjoy an evening out instead.
BOOK DIRECT FOR A £20 VOUCHER towards a meal at our favourite restaurant in Loch Croistean, where you will find Marianne's fabulous home cooked food and wonderful hospitality. We'll even make the booking for you so that you don't waste a moment of your visit.
Don't like stairs? Then live entirely on the ground floor, where the master bedroom is right next door to the bathroom.
If you or your guests have mobility difficulties, then this is the place to be. Convenient parking, close to level access into the house and onto the patio, and all the main facilities available on the ground floor.
Enjoy the luxury of high quality furniture, bed linen and towels.
All the bedroom furniture is solid hardwood (ash), with a contemporary twist to traditional designs. There are original paintings on the walls, and samples of beautiful hand made soap for you to try.
BOOK DIRECT FOR A £20 VOUCHER to spend on luscious soaps during a visit to Linda at the Hebridean Soap Company. She and her staff provide an intriguing insight into the process of soap making, and the smell in the shop is to die for!
Time for planning the next day's activities?
Have a family conference on this huge leather sofa, or sit together to play games or watch your favourite films on the 32" TV. Bring CDs too - the surround sound system brings everything to life.
Enjoy good weather to the max!
The recently constructed patio is quite a sun trap, so if you don't have the energy or inclination to head for the beach, try sitting out with the garden furniture stored in the shed. We got sunburned painting the fence, so don't forget the sunscreen when you try this . . .
Watch the ferry coming in . . .
. . . or, in this case, you can see a cruise ship leaving Stornoway to go to its next port of call. The ferry now sails on Sundays too - a major change to life on the Isle of Lewis. In addition, the new cheaper fares make travelling to Stornoway much more affordable.
