The village of Northton (An Toabh Tuath) is surrounded by many beautiful white sandy beaches at a walking distance.

Grandfather's House was one of the first Black Houses originally built before 1902 and within it's old walls completely rebuild in 2006/2008.
Grandfather's House, a four star accommodation, consists of a Lounge/Kitchen, Hall and Toilet. Upstairs one Master Bedroom with Kingsize bed, luxurious washbasins and showerroom (plus extra toilet) for a maximum of one couple (an extra bed or cot can be provided)


Beachview Cottages

Sealwatching, Seafishing, fishing from the beach or rocks and Flyfishing can be arranged if you wish. But the best are the seals!
Boat trips to many of the small islands like Taransay, Ensay, Killegray and St. Kilda, also sea angling trips can be arranged.
Further Sea Kayaking, Loch canoeing, Biking etc. Golfing within 5 minutes driving at the Harris Golf Club.

Surfing, kite-surfing, body boarding, beach walking, hill walking, there is so much to see and do, so many places to visit on Harris and Lewis and always the beautiful views to enjoy, where ever you go on the Outer Hebrides.
But South Harris with its famous beaches is one of the most attractive places of Brittain!

Some of our guests send us amazing pictures of the Harris flora. This flora can be compared to the Alpine flora and can be seen on the machair of Northton. Just have a look the the MacGillivray centre and Seallam for more information about birds, genealogy and the history of the Outer Hebrides or Western Isles.

Don't miss out on a excursion to St. Kilda.
Kilda cruises operating from Leverburgh, just a five minutes drive from our accommodation brings you close to the islands of St. KIlda, Boreray, Stac Lee where thousands of Fulmars and Gannets are breeding.
The nature reserve St. Kilda (belonging to the Outer Isles) itselfs shows you a small community surviving upto 1932 living of what the islands produced.

Callanish stones

Calanais is the location of the Callanish Stones, a cross-shaped setting of standing stones erected around 2000 BC, one of the most spectacular megalithic monuments in Scotland.
There is a modern visitor centre which provides information about the main circle and several other lesser monuments nearby.

On the Isle of Lewis you'll find a stone circle older then Stone Henge. These very old stones are the Calanish Standing stones.
