Waterside Lodges

Situated right by the Southern Upland Way and close to two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres, these luxury lodges offer the perfect base for relaxing and making the most of the great outdoors.

Anne’s Lodge is a spacious and comfortable single storey barn conversion with beautifully decorated rooms and all the comforts of home. Consisting of a welcoming front room, a fully equipped modern kitchen and dining area as well as comfortable bedrooms and a stylish bathroom, this 4-star retreat is perfect for couples wanting the freedom of quality self-catering accommodation. A fantastically unique feature of the lodge is a CCTV system which records the antics of the barn owls and tawny owls bringing up their young. This is a real privilege to watch and you’ll be amazed at how you become absorbed in the day-to-day dramas and antics of the owl families.

Ochiltree Lodge is of the same design and has the same facilities as Anne's Lodge but has three en suite bedrooms sleeping seven. Merrick Lodge meanwhile is the smallest but still a beautifully formed lodge which sleeps four.

As well as being ideally located for walking the Southern Upland Way, this is an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts as it is and close to the Galloway Forest Park with its 300 square miles of beautiful green forest, heather-clad hills, wealth of wildlife and two of the 7stanes mountain biking centres. At night, it is also one of the best spots in the UK for stargazing with the naked eye, as it’s the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and one of only two in Europe. Golfers won’t be disappointed either as there are numerous golf courses within easy reach including fantastic 18-hole parkland course in Newton Stewart. Fantastic fishing is also available nearby.
