A charming wildly romantic Victorian Country House situated on the banks of Loch Fyne with breathtaking panoramic views across to Inveraray Castle framed by the scenic, natural beauty of the surrounding hills.
Thistle House boasts accommodation of high quality with the comfort of the guests a priority. It nestles in its own 2 acres of informal gardens with natural peace, tranquility.
You can curl up on our sofas in front of our roaring log fire with a good book or relax in the garden with the company of many of our feathered friends. Enjoy a few days solace away from the stresses of day to day busy life.
Thistle House makes a good base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula and encapturing some of its historical beauty as well as visiting Inveraray with its many attractions. All bedrooms are individually designed with with the comfort of the guests being our utmost importance. The beds are dressed with crisp white cotton bed linen and the en-suite facilities are complimented with luxury white fluffy towels and locally hand made organic toiletries.
There is ample car parking in the grounds of the house and lockable storage for bicycles.

A warm welcome awaits you from hosts Alistair and Jenifer to Thistle House, a beautifully romantic spacious homely old Victorian country house built in 1900 and is situated in a large pretty wooded garden, overlooking Loch Fyne to Inveraray and its famous castle.
Thistle House has been providing quality guest accommodation for over 30 years with many of its guests returning year after year. The accommodation has recently undergone a high quality refurbishment with your total comfort and relaxation in mind to enhance this already beautiful Victorian house.
Our gardens have some special visitors which can be seen from both our public rooms and bedrooms. Look out for our family of red squirrels and roe deer and keep a special watch out for the many seals in the loch at the front of the house. The house is also perfect for bird watching with both woodland and shore birds.
The Guest House is perfectly located for visits to Inveraray, Dunoon, Oban and many more of the beautiful surrounding west coast of Scotland’s areas. It is also perfectly located for the famous Loch Lomond National Park with its lavish land offering a range of leisure opportunities; such as scenic drives, local crafts, rambling, sailing, fishing, hill walking, boat trips, historical sites, pony trekking and of course Scotland's most famous sport, golf. Our well appointed spacious bedrooms are individually named after local clans of the surrounding west coast of Scotland. Each room has a small history of the clan and a display of their tartan and crest.
All of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, are tastefully furnished and are complimented with luxurious new crisp white cotton bed linen and fluffy white towels. Each of the rooms feature , flat screen remote control colour TVs, DVD/CD players, radio alarm clocks, hospitality trays, hairdryers, individually controlled central heating, and a high quality range of Hand made organic toiletries. For those warmer days a picnic blanket is available for use during your stay.
There is a choice of a Victorian 4 poster, king size, family, double and twin bedrooms. All rooms have panoramic views of Loch Fyne or the quiet tranquillity of our woodland garden. The impressive lounge is always a talking point amongst our guests and is indeed the perfect place for meeting and chatting to other guests. It overlooks the loch and has an impressive, romantic open log fire where you can relax in the comfy sofas enjoying a wee dram on us. The lounge also has an array of books and information on the local area. The Dining Room benefits from wonderful views over Loch Fyne to Inveraray and the castle. All of our breakfast produce is locally supplied and where possible we use organically grown and fair trade products.
