The New Farmhouse, Skirling Mill is a beautiful Scandinavian lodge set in its own private grounds on a working farm near Biggar.

Enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds of the country from a perfect central location for Edinburgh and Glasgow (the M74 is 20 mins away) and many outdoor pursuits including mountain biking and walking.
The pretty town of Biggar is only 2 miles away with a Co-op supermarket, restaurants, cafes, butchers, bakers, greengrocers, post office and unique gift shops and deli's. Biggar boasts 3 museums, a puppet theatre, tennis courts, golf course, boating pond and putting green.
One of Scotland’s top visitor attractions, The World Heritage site, New Lanark is only 20 mins. by car.
We are only 30 mins by car from the best mountain biking trails in Britain at Glentress and Innerleithen (part of the 7 stanes mountain biking trail).
The Scottish Borders has a wealth of attractions; historic houses (the closest is Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland), popular tourist towns (Peebles is only 25 mins), Flora & Fauna including the Osprey watch at Glentress and Kailzie and the Botanic gardens at Dawyck, fishing, horse riding, golf and all grades of walks.

From the front you enter the large comfortable sitting room with wood burning stove which you can toast yourselves beside on cool evenings. There is a selection of CDs, DVDs, books and games for your use.
Or enter from the back into the utility room with washer/drier, coat hooks and plenty space to change boots and outdoor gear before entering the large, bright, kitchen/dining room with double oven, grill, hob, microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. The dining room seats eight and a high chair is available. Also on this level are a bathroom and a twin bedroom. On the first floor the master king-size bedroom has beautiful views over the fields of the farmland with en-suite shower and toilet. The twin room is also en-suite and looks out over the glorious scenery towards Tinto hill which has commanding views from the top. The large landing adjoining these rooms has a sofa bed which sleeps two comfortably if required. A cot is also available.
All bed linen, towels, logs for the wood burning stove, heating, and electricity are included in the price. High chair and cot are available at no extra cost.
The chalet is rented out year round.
Rental periods are generally arrival 4pm departure 10am - if you expect to arrive earlier or later then please let us know and we will try to accommodate. Short-breaks are available all year.
Changeover day for weekly holiday lets is normally Friday.
