Loch Shiel House Hotel

The Loch Shiel House Hotel is a family run hotel about an hour’s drive from Fort William and situated at the far North Eastern entrance of the Ardnamurchan peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland. The Hotel is amidst stunning scenery and looks out over the western shores of Loch Shiel, the hills of Moidart and the western rise of the 845 meter Corbett of Ben Resipole.
Visitors to this area invariably fall in love with it and return time after time.
The Loch Shiel House Hotel was built in the 19th century as a Hunting Lodge adapted over the years to what is now a 9 bedroom Hotel. All rooms are en-suite and have either a shower or bath. Tea/Coffee making facilities, toiletries, alarm clock and TV are standard in all our rooms. If you forget any essentials we will do our best to supply anything you need.
Our Chef is also part of our family and was trained in Michelin star establishments Chewton Glen in Hampshire and Sharrow Bay in the Lake District. Our restaurant, situated on the ground floor offers a bistro style of food, our chef along with his talented team is constantly looking to improve the ever changing menu by sourcing new ingredients to create appetising and enticing new dishes. We offer a range of ‘made from scratch’ homemade traditional choices and use local produce when possible. This includes locally caught fish (fresh & smoked), meats sourced both from local farms and specialist suppliers and cheese from Mull, Arran and other local farms. Our Restaurant can only sit 20 people so booking is essential, although bar meals can also be taken in the bar area. Bar meals are served at lunchtime between 12 noon and 2.30pm (2pm in the winter) . You can also enjoy a meal on our outside decking area which provides magnificent views of Loch Shiel and the surrounding hills, or enjoy our Beer Garden with seating and views over some of the most beautiful scenery the Scottish Highlands has to offer.
Our comfortable bar is open all day from 12 noon (closed in the winter between 2pm and 4.30pm) where you can relax and enjoy a pint of real Scottish cask ale, a dram of our extensive range of Malts, Quality Blends or standard whisky (over 60 at present) or any of our other beverages available in the bar.
The area is steeped in history, as it was up Loch Shiel that Bonnie Prince Charlie sailed before landing at Glenfinnan in 1745 at the beginning of the famous Jacobite revolution.
For those of you who love the natural beauty and wildlife of the Western Highlands there is plenty to do in the area with its many photographic opportunities of scenery and wildlife, wonderful walks, scenic drives, beaches, boat trips and many other leisure activities including fishing, biking and kayaking. The hotel is a great stopping off point when touring, or as base to explore the area.
