Claybokie, Mar Lodge Estate

Mar Lodge Estate is situated six miles from Braemar in the heart of Royal Deeside. It forms part of the core area of the Cairngorms National Park, internationally recognised as the most important nature conservation landscape in the British Isles. The estate contains four of the five highest mountains in Britain and the upper watershed of the River Dee and remnant Caledonian pine forest of national importance. The outstanding wildlife and birdlife on this prime example of a Highland estate are characteristic of the northern mountainous area of Britain.
Our properties at Mar Lodge Estate are ideal for visitors wishing to explore this magnificent area all year round. The immediate area boasts ample opportunities for hill-walking, cycling, skiing, snowboarding and sledging, as well as fishing (salmon and trout) stalking and shooting which are offered on Mar Lodge Estate itself.
Within the grounds of the estate, Claybokie and Creag Bhalg form their own exclusive small estate, comprising two exquisite houses, private in the extreme and beautiful in every respect. With their open fires, deep beautiful sofas, antlers, tartan carpets, and fine furniture and paintings, these must be among the most comfortable lodges in Scotland.
Short breaks available Friday – Monday and Monday – Friday. Full weeks run Saturday - Saturday.
When the owner of Mar Lodge decided to sell, he spared no effort or expense in building these luxurious homes within the grounds of Mar Lodge as alternative accommodation for himself, his family and friends. He chose the perfect spot with uninterrupted views across the River Dee and Glen Ey. The estate is just minutes away from Linn of Dee, Deeside, Balmoral and skiing at Glenshee. There is fishing available on the Dee, and access to the Cairngorms is easy.
Both Claybokie and Creag Bhalg are set within a high-walled garden on three sides and the fenced-off river to the front, and are perfect for house parties and family get-togethers. They are let on a self-catering basis, however, we can recommend local caterers should you wish to spoil yourself.
Claybokie is just two minutes' walk from Creag Bhalg, through woodland and sleeps ten people.
