Fine dining restaurant, bars, shops, golf course only five minutes walk from the house. Great visitor attractions, endless activities such as river rafting, mountain biking walking (Newtonmore is the walking capital of Scotland), sailing, shooting and fishing all close by.
The owners - Janet and John, who pride themselves on a warm welcome, would be delighted to talk to you about the house or to give more information on the local area.
What our visitors say about us
“Brilliant location and house - everything was spot on. We loved it and will be back to you with some dates for next year. Thank you for making our holiday so wonderful."
“Thanks, we had a really good time in Glenfairn House and felt very much at home (so much so none of us wanted to go back home). You were so kind and welcoming and we were amazed by how many fun things there were to do in the area. Even the teenagers were impressed!”
Glenfairn House
The house has a large conservatory, spacious sitting room with satellite TV, separate dining room, very well equipped kitchen, utility, and downstairs cloak room. Upstairs there are two bathrooms with separate bath and shower units, three double bedrooms, and one very large family room with a double and two single beds. There is also a small single room.
This is a great location for touring and there are numerous castles, gardens, historical sites, distilleries, visitor attractions, fine dining restaurants, great tea rooms, quirky shops and of course beautiful lochs, mountains and glens.
The area has been widely filmed by the BBC for the recent ”Monarch of the Glen” television series which gained many accolades for the stunning scenery. There is an abundance of walks of all levels from gentle riverside and loch side trails to more serious mountain days with plenty of Munros in the area . Also on offer are climbing, skiing, canoeing, sailing, horse riding, shooting, fishing, tennis and bowling. There is a relatively new Forestry Commission sponsored mountain bike centre just a short drive away, and Newtonmore is part of the national cycling network of designated cycle paths. For golfers there is an excellent 18 hole course in the village and several other courses just a short drive away.
If you have youngsters in your party there are some fantastic fun filled places to visit such as the wildlife park in Kingcraig, the folk park in Newtonmore (free entry for 2009) and the Landmark woodland park in Carrbridge with water slides, ropeways, climbing areas, tree tops walk, assault courses, play areas, maze and much more.
Janet or John would be happy to give ideas for great days out and fabulous things to see and do.
All heating, electricity, gas and bedding is included in the rental price. Cot and high chair available for on request and at no extra charge.
