Blackcroft Cottage
Blackcroft is a superb spacious three bedroomed self catering holiday cottage which sleeps up to six people situated in the heart of the Dumfries and Galloway countryside. The cottage is newly refurbished to a high standard and is ideal for families, with magnificent views across unspoilt countryside.
Blackcroft Cottage is located near Twynholm and Kirkcudbright (Artists' Town), on the River Dee, and is set in beautiful Galloway countryside and yet is within reach of several sandy beaches. It is an ideal base for exploring this un-spoilt corner of Scotland.
The Cottage is ideally located for walking the Screel Hill circular walk and taking in a round of golf at any of the 30 golf courses within an hours drive. Other activities in the area include mountain biking (7stanes), horse riding, sailing at Kippford, local salmon & trout fishing and there are several historic castles & houses in the area which can be visited. Loch Ken is also nearby where a variety of sailing and water pursuits are available together with full instruction, if required. For bird watching enthusiasts the famouse Red Kite Trail is also close by.
Kirkcudbright itself hosts the summer festivities, which run from June through to late August, culminating in the Tattoo. There are also numerous music festivals, art exhibitions and craft events throughout the year.
Twynholm is the home of David Coulthard, the famous formula one racing driver and the Coulthard museum is in the centre of the village. Twynholm also has it’s own chocolate factory and children are welcome to take part in the chocolate experience.
Rooms Discription
The cottage has a large, well equipped kitchen complete with cooker, microwave fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is also a utility room with washing machine.
The dining room has a modern table and seating for up to six people. The large living room with comfortable sofas is equipped with television, DVD player and sky freeview for your entertainment. There is a good sized secure garage suitable for storing bikes. The garage also has an outside tap.
There are three main bedrooms, two double rooms one with a kingsize bed, one with twin beds and the third has a single bed with guest pullout. The master bedroom has an en suit toilet with shower cubicle and heated towel rail. All rooms are newly furnished and good quality bed linen and towels are supplied
