Thistle Cottage - Getting There

Getting there from the Information Centre

From the TIC on Market Street, St. Andrews turn left onto North Street. Continue along North Street until you come to a roundabout and take the 1st exit onto the A915/City Road. Continue out of St. Andrews on the A915 going straight through all roundabouts. Follow the A915 for approximately 9 miles. You go round a couple of bad bends with a farm on the right then start to go down a hill. After you have passed Monturpie Guest House on the left hand side we are just a little further down the hill on the right. You will see signs for Chesterstone Farm and Thistle Cottage at the bottom of the drive.

Getting There by Car

Follow signs to the Forth Road Bridge. After crossing the bridge exit at junction 2a onto the A92 – signposted Kirkcaldy. At the first roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A921 and the take the 1st exit at the next roundabout onto the A915. Continue on the A915 through Leven and Lundin Links until you get to Upper Largo. In the middle of the village you have to turn left towards St. Andrews (also the A915) . We are half a mile on this road on the left hand side. You will see signs for Chesterstone Farm and Thistle Cottage at the bottom of the drive.

Getting There by Railway

Scotrail, Virgin Trains or GNER all stop at Kirkcaldy station and you can then continue the journey by bus from Kirkcaldy bus station. The X26 and X60 service both stop in the village of Upper Largo which is half a mile away.

Getting there by Aeroplane

The nearest airport is Edinburgh International - approx 45 minutes by car. Hertz, Avis and Europcar all hire cars from Edinburgh. Follow the signs as you leave the airport for the Forth Road Bridge and then follow the car directions above. Alternatively take a bus into Waverley Station and travel the rest of the way by rail and bus.

Getting There by Ferry

The nearest ferry port is Roysth. Follow the signs as you leave the port for the M90 towards Perth, Dundee, Kirkcaldy, and join the M90. At junction 2a exit onto the A92, and follow the instructions by car above.
