A warm welcome awaits you on our working Beef and sheep farm set amidst rolling green fields with uninterrupted spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Only a couple of miles from the Atlantic Ocean, we are situated just 3 miles west of Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula where you are right in the heart of traditional west coast of Scotland family farming.
Holidaying on a working farm always offers something different. If you are looking for a rural idyll where you can relax, recharge and refresh your batteries, or a base from where you can explore the 40 mile long Peninsula which boasts more than 80 miles of superb beaches, you'll find it all at Rhoin Holidays.
Whether you want to walk the Kintyre Way, play golf on one of the five local courses, surf the Atlantic breakers at Westport beach, take your horse for a gallop in the sands of Machrihanish or just relax, Rhoin Holidays is the place to stay.

The Ralston family have been farming at the Rhoin Farm since 1949. Rhoin – is gaelic for ‘crest of the hill’. The farmhouse is set in 200 acres of mainly arable farmland.
The long valley below the farm was once part of the Atlantic Forest. During the last ice age – the melting glaciers swept down the valley towards Campbeltown flattening all the trees in its wake. To this day, every time we plough this land, we find pieces of petrified wood known locally as ‘bog oak’. You will see examples of it around the farm and as features in the raised garden.
In 2003 we changed over from traditional dairy farming to beef production. We are now a commercial beef and sheep farm with a few pedigree Simmental cows. Our sheep lamb inside during the month of February and our cattle are wintered inside during the colder months, but are out to grass from the end of April till October.

Our accommodation is finished to a high standard and includes Category 2 disabled facilities on the ground floor
This very recent conversion adjoins the main farmhouse with secluded entrance and parking area.
Every room in 'The Dairy' was once part of the old farm. The double bedroom on the ground floor
was once the 'dairy maids' quarters. These young women would have been responsible for all the milking and cheese making done on the farm The first floor bedrooms (one twin and one single) were once part of the 'cheese room' where the freshly made farm cheeses were stored until they had matured and were ready to sell.
The sitting room, once the original farmhouse kitchen, is complete with a wood burning stove,
Sky+ television, DVD player and Hi Fi system. Wi fi internet access is also available for those who wish to take their laptop on holiday! The generously sized kitchen/diner and entrance hall made up the old dairy where the fresh milk would be chilled and stored until being made into butter and cheese.
There is a full sized bathroom downstairs and spacious shower room with WC and wash hand basin
on the first floor.
Central heating throughout. Secure Storage for outdoor equipment included. Drying area for outdoor clothing and equipment.
We are dog lovers ourselves and welcome responsible dog owners.

Rhoin farm is only 5 minutes from Campbeltown where there are many good restaurants and hotels as well as carryout diners. There is an hourly bus service passes the farm during the day, and taxis deliver an excellent service in and around Campbeltown. Car hire is also available through Campbeltown Motor Company for those who wish to travel to Kintyre by bus or fly to the local airport.
Campbeltown has a superb recreational facility with a small restaurant for those who prefer to watch others swimming or exercising! Also in this building is the library with internet facilities.
The Picture House is the oldest purpose built cinema in Scotland and is owned by the community. Films
shown there are the most up to date releases.
Golf on one of the 5 local courses, horse ride at one of the local centres or bring your own through our participation in the BHS Welcome Horses Scheme, walk the Kintyre Way or the glorious beaches or cycle round Kintyre- there is much to see and do.
