Recently refurbished throughout (March 2008), the Wigtown Ploughman Hotel offers a high standard of comfort and fine food at reasonable rates in the heart of one of Galloway's most attractive little towns.
The hotel is also the perfect base from which to explore the many other attractions close by, including Britain's largest Local Nature Reserve, Britain's largest forest park, spectacular scenery and coastline and places of interest including the Bladnoch Distillery, Whithorn, the cradle of Christianity in Scotland and, of course, Wigtown's many book shops!
All rooms at The Wigtown Ploughman Hotel have an en-suite bathroom with shower and/or bath, central heating, tea & coffee-making facilities, mini-bar, hairdryer, ironing board/iron, lockable safe and TV.

The Granary Bistro at The Wigtown Ploughman Hotel offers a range of foods to suit a variety of tastes served daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm, seven days a week. This means that guests wanting a traditional Sunday lunch after 2pm, can have one! We serve a high standard of quality cuisine, cooked from fresh and using only the best local ingredients. Hotel guests will be served breakfast between 7:30am and 9:30am.
The comfortable bar at The Wigtown Ploughman is designed to provide a relaxing, convivial atmosphere, a place to socialise, enjoy good conversation and our beers, lagers and spirits. Why not try our fine range of Scotch whiskies including single malts from the local Bladnoch Distillery and further afield? As well as draught and bottled beers and cider, we also offer a good selection of fine wines.
Bar meals are also available.
In the summertime, guests can make full use of our Private Garden area to the rear of the hotel, creating a perfect family-friendly venue.
