Fairview Self Catering

Fairview is a traditional, stone built detached Shetland House, full of original character, but now fully modernized. It is spacious, comprising two large double bedrooms with twin beds each with en suite W.C and wash hand basin. There is a winter sitting room with peat fire and summer sitting room to the west with television. A large sun porch faces south. There is a very spacious bathroom with sunken bath and separate shower unit; a fully fitted kitchen/dining room and a separate fully equipped utility room.
Fairview is situated just south of Lerwick and a few miles from Tingwall Airport from where the islands of Fair Isle, Foula, Papa Stour and the Out Skerries can be reached. It is possible to drive to Unst, Yell, Whalsay and Fetlar, via the ferry and return the same day.
Fairview was built in the latter years of the 19th century. It is constructed of local stone, with extremely thick walls. There is quite a large garden . Daffodils grace the garden in the spring time, and the Shetland rose in the early summer. Many wild flowers flourish including very special orchids.
The property boasts wonderful views, particularly to the south and east over the sea.
The house is cosy all year round, including an optional peat fire which creates the local charm.
There is a good selection of books, indoor games and puzzles, and compact discs and DVDs available.
