Palace Farm
Palace Farm is a large traditional stone built farm cottage which consists of two modern and comfortable accommodation units. There is ample car parking and a shed suitable for storing bikes. Both units are beside the historic St Magnus Kirk while unit 1 has sea views unit 2 has views of the Earls Palace just outside the window.
Palace Farm is in the heart of the village of Palace in Birsay the rocky and sandy beach is at the end of a large garden which is shared between the two units. The well stocked local shop and Post Office are a few yards along the road for all your grocery needs, ice creams, post cards, local beers, petrol, diesel etc. (orders can be taken in advance and be delivered for your arrival). The much revered Birsay Bay Tea Room is just a five minute walk up the road and the Point of Buckquoy a five minute walk in the other direction where you can cross the tidal path to the Brough of Birsay or just sit and admire the view with a cup of tea and a cake. For those who prefer their evening meals prepared for them the Barony Hotel restaurant is just 1.5 miles up the road.
Unit 1 is on the ground floor with views to the sea, it has a large kitchen/diner with a beautiful view of Birsay Bay, there is a washing machine, dish washer, fridge/freezer, electric oven and gas hob. Relax on a reclining leather sofa in the large living room while watching TV with Freesat or a DVD. There is also an electric fire to complement the oil fired central heating.
Bedroom 1 has a double bed with en-suite shower room and views of St Magnus Kirk. Bedroom 2 has bunk beds and sleeps 2.
Unit 2 has views of the Earls Palace ruins and is two storey with two large bedrooms, a box room and shower room upstairs.
Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed and access to the box room where there is a small bed suitable for a child up to the age of about 8 years. There are views of the Kirk on one side and the sea from the other side. Bedroom 2 has two single beds and views of the Kirk on one side and the Palace on the other.
Downstairs is the kitchen with electric oven and gas hob, washing machine and fridge/freezer. The lounge/diner has views of the Palace and the Kirk, a TV with Freeview, DVD player, CD radio and solid fuel fire to complement the oil fired central heating.
In the bicycle shed there is a tumble drier which is available for use by guests in either end of the house.
High chair, cot and fold up single bed available on request.
