You'll find the Old Rectory - popular with locals and visitors - just off one of the narrow streets winding down to Dysart's rocky harbour. The building dates from 1771 and the two dining rooms at the front have an authentically Georgian feel with antique furniture and well-spaced tables. The west facing walled garden is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks in summer.
Since there's a lot of repeat business, the menu changes monthly. The lunch menu is straightforward: broth or perhaps dressed crab, followed by breaded haddock or something from the carvery. Hot puddings are of the nursery variety; cold puddings are wheeled round to your table on the sweet trolley. Dinner features a more elaborate menu, but all the favourites - steak, chicken and pasta are there.
The Norths are very hands-on owners and indeed have the good fortune to live 'over the shop' in this venerable building. They know their customers well, and the restaurant is busy all year round in this tucked-away spot giving their regulars exactly what they want. Book ahead to secure a table in one of the rooms facing the garden.
All are welcome: tourists and locals, families and couples. Dating from the 18th century, this unique building with its oak-beamed lounge bar and tastefully decorated restaurant offers diners a quiet, intimate atmosphere. We serve a wide range of European dishes and our specialities include smoked salmon, haggis Drambuie and escalope of pork cordon bleu.
