The Murray Arms Hotel & Restaurant

Lunky Hole Restaurant

EatScotlands independent assessor said

"The Murray Arms Hotel is steeped in history, with parts of the building dating back to 1642 when it was the original Gait House or Tollbooth from which the town takes its name. In 1760 the present building was constructed as a Coaching Inn on the Dumfries to Stranraer stagecoach route, and in 1763 Robert Burns, Scotlands national poet, wrote the stirring anthem Scots Wha Hae in a room now named after him."

Pan fried Black Pudding & Parma Ham with a Honey Mustard Dressing
"Vibrant colours and good height. Visually appealing. Leaves in the centre of the plate gave good colour with the Black Pudding slices arranged on top of the crispy Parma ham finishing it off. Dressing and small cubes of Black Pudding surrounded the edge of the plate. The Black Pudding had an excellent flavour and the Parma Ham was nice and crispy."

The Murray Arms Hotel is a traditional 18th Century Scottish Coaching Inn centrally located in Gatehouse of Fleet. This charming town of whitewashed buildings stretching along the wooded banks of the Water of Fleet in the heart of the beautiful Galloway hills is one of the most picturesque areas of Scotland.
