Beer Battered Local Haddock and Chips
"The locally landed haddock was fresh and succulent, with the batter crisp and tasty - all cooked to order. The salad leaves, peppers, cucumbers and onion were finely chopped and of recent preperation. The chips were correctly cooked, crisp on the outside with a soft centre."
Poached Pear with a Spiced Red Wine Syrup
"The pear was beautifully poached, retaining just the required amount of resistance. The red wine syrup had an enjoyable spicy bite. The sorbet had a clean, sharp flavour, offering a good foil to the richness of the pear and sauce."
The Steam Packet Inn provides for anything from a quick bite of lunch through to a full evening dinner. Chalkboard specials change twice daily, supported by an extensive set menu. Our reputation for food has spread far and wide with locals and visitors alike. The emphasis is on serving the freshest of Scottish produce, particularly seafood that is often bought straight from the boats landing in front of the hotel.
