Tomato Soup
" An excellent, hearty soup. The flavour was predominantly of fresh tomatoes interlaced with delicate herbs. Delicious."
Aubergine Parmigiano
"A small mound of aubergine and tomato slices in the centre of the plate with a thick, rich tomato and cheese sauce gently oozing out, liberally sprinkled with Parmesan shavings by the waiter. The texture of the aubergine and tomato was just right, well cooked but preserving good texture. An excellent blend of rich flavours that complemented each other to make a simple but memorable dish. Very well made."
Lemon Tart
"An excellent fresh lemon flavour with just the right amount of sweetening. The filling was light and looked quite frothythough firm to touch."
The long established Cafe Gandolfi offers all day food with a Highland bias. Ingredients are fresh, vegetarian option abound and the cooking is confident.
Cafe Gandolfi was opened in the old Cheesemarket in 1979, the first conversion in what is now the vibrant Merchant City area of Glasgow. Named after the noted family of photographers the Cafe has become famed for its stunning interior, principally through its display and usage of wooden furniture designed by Glasgow School of Art graduate Tim Stead. In addition, the Cafe boasts a delightful stained glass window designed by John Clarke which offers a colourful contrast to the rustic wooden restaurant interior.
The cafe's easy-going professionalism has attracted customers from far and wide, along with a few faces we are happy to see on a daily basis. Over the course of its 25 years thus far the cafe has built-up an enviable reputation for the unique provision of Scottish cuisine at affordable prices, all of which has resulted in its many favourable reviews and awards year after year.
