The Corn Kist Coffee Shop
EatScotlands independent assessor said
"Uses fresh ingredients, either produced on site or by local suppliers. Meals are taken in a thoughtfully converted barn which suits the style of cooking and produce available."
"Good variety and choice in the menu, all dishes were local country fare."
Tomato, Red Pepper & Orange Soup
"The tomato, red pepper and orange soup looked appealing and colourful. The soup was prepared using good quality ingredients. The soup was well balanced and I could detect the flavours of tomato, red pepper and orange."
Chicken a la King
"The chicken was flavoursome and moist. The sauce was of a good consistency and flavour containing green and red peppers and sweetcorn. The dish had a good balance and the chicken certainly contributed to the fine flavour."
Lemon Meringue Pie & Raspberry Ice Cream
"The lemon meringue pie had a deep lemon colour filling and tall fluffy meringue toasted top. The consistency of the lemon filling was very good, not too firm, and the meringue had a light texture."
Our typical customers are in the over 55 age group, although we do also cater for families. Our style is informal with décor in keeping with a traditional farmhouse kitchen. The atmosphere is busy and the service is personal. All our food is made on the premises and house specialities include our own home-made soups and baking.
