“Abstract is a quiet, relaxed restaurant, full of dark wood, lush greenery, mirrors and subdued lighting, where professional and attentive staff glide from table to table offering friendly, seamless service.”

“The food is stunningly presented with meticulous attention to detail, and the menu contains some wonderful surprises, such as fillet of hare and suckling pig, as well as more mainstream ingredients of the highest quality.”

Ballotine of Foie Gras, Malt and syrup Jelly, Mango and Lime Caramel
“A quarter-inch thick slice of ballotine of foie gras topped with a perfectly smooth firm jelly. Rich, buttery and smooth; quite solid in texture; excellent combination of flavours.”

Fillets of Hare, Golden Beetroot and Passion Fruit Compote
“Exceptionally tender fillet of hare. The strong “gamey” flavour of the hare was beautifully set off by the accompanying rich, lustrous sauce, and balanced by the compote, whose sharp fruity undertones were a perfect foil.”

Passion fruit Souffle, Exotic Fruit Sorbet
“A medium-sized soufflé dish, holding a beautifully risen, golden brown soufflé with a clean sharp edge. The passion fruit sorbet, served in a small ceramic spoon, had a good, creamy consistency; firm but sufficiently melting to release the strong fresh flavour of passion fruit.”

Abstract's quality & style have been recognised with 3 AA rosettes for this stylist restaurant. The skill & flair of the head chef Geoffrey Malmedy and his team has also been reflected with being named as rising stars in the most authoritative of directories to the UK's best meals, the Michelin Guide. In keeping with the pioneering approach that has seen it set new standards for dining in the Highlands, Abstract became the first restaurant in Scotland to introduce a chef's table. Situated in the kitchen, the table offers a unique dining experience for parties of four or six, who can enjoy the stunning 'tasting' menu, while watching head chef Geoffrey Malmedy and his team at work!

Abstract's casual but opulent style of modern French cuisine is equally suited to a business or leisurely dinner. The chic piano bar (open to non residents and diners) boasts a huge list of malt whiskies, a wide selection of cocktails and an extensive international wine list.
