Asparagus Three Ways
“Visually appealing, with the three preparations of asparagus served in a modern style. The warm brulée style with the asparagus purée was full of flavour, as was the shavings of asparagus and pink grapefruit, which was fresh and tasty. Exceptional balance and flavour from such few ingredients.”

Monkfish Cheeks with Soft Polenta, Montbeliard Sausage and Tomato and Chive Sauce
“The monkfish was extremely fresh and the quality of the sausage was excellent. Overall balance and flavour was very good, with all the components working well together. A Simple dish with great flavours, cooked with skill.”

Chocolate Tube and Lime Marmalade
“Very artistic and modern presentation with good visual impact. The lime marmalade was very good, sharp enough to cut through the chocolate. A simple combination resulted in a dessert which ate well.”

The new restaurant's casual but opulent style of modern French cuisine is equally suited to a business lunch (two courses are available @ £12.95 per person) or a leisurely dinner. Abstract is the first restaurant in Edinburgh to provide a chef's table. Situated in the kitchen, the table offers a unique dining experience for parties of six or eight, who can enjoy the stunning tasting menu, while watching the head chef and his team work. After their meal diners can continue to enjoy the ambience in Abstract's piano bar, which boasts a huge list of malt whiskies, a wide selection of cocktails and an extensive international wine list. The chic bar is also open to non-diners.
