Edinburgh Marathon

Since its inauguration in 2003 The Edinburgh Marathon has firmly established itself as one of Scotland's premier sporting and fundraising events. The Edinburgh Marathon has forged strong links with a great variety of Scottish and UK charities, raising £2m each year for hundreds worthwhile causes.

The aim of the marathon is to create a world class event that provides runners with an exceptional personal challenge whilst also providing a platform for Scottish and UK charities to raise vital funds though sponsorship.

Catherine Kemble, a runner in the 2007 event, said:

"This was my first full marathon and I couldn't have picked a better race or venue. The organisation was fantastic - everyone at the expo on Saturday was highly efficient and the pre-race administration was excellent … I'm a novice to all this marathon running so I don't have a lot to judge the event by but if they're all like this then I'm hooked."

The Edinburgh Marathon is more than just a race - it is a festival of fun with on-route entertainment and finish-line celebrations. The race day will also reflect great human spirit thanks to the thousands of runners raising much needed funds for charitable causes.
