The Firth of Forth: Leven and Lundin

We start our tour at Leven Links on the north shore of the Firth of Forth, near the town of Kirkcaldy.

Leven is one of Scotland's historic courses; the Leven Golfing Society is the 11th oldest golf club in the world. The original nine-hole layout was extended to 18 holes in 1868. Two years later Leven held the first Standard Life Gold Medal probably the oldest open amateur strokeplay championship in the world. .

Lundin Golf Club used to share their course with Leven, until 1909, when James Braid laid out new holes and remodelled several of the holes from the original course. Today 'Lundie', as it is better known, is an Open Championship qualifying course and home to the East of Scotland Championship which annually attracts many of the top amateur players in the country.
