There are opportunities for every kind of cycling in the National Park: gentle family rides or punishing routes on a wide variety of surfaces.

The National Park has plenty of quiet country roads making it easy to plan a day out away from too much traffic. National Cycle Route 7 (from Glasgow to Inverness) runs alongside the A9 and the river Spey on cycle tracks and minor roads suitable for most kinds of bike. There are leaflets in Tourist Information Centres describing sections of the route.

For those who like to get a bit muddy there are miles and miles of Landover tracks and paths, and lots of promoted off-road cycle routes. These range from well-graded trails suitable for most kinds of bike, to technical and demanding rides for fit and experienced mountain bikers.

Rothiemurchus Estate, Glenmore Forest Park , Inshraich forest and the Glenlivet Estate all have particularly well-developed and way-marked networks. In Deeside there are lots of similar routes, but few that are specifically promoted. Laggan Wolftrax at Strathmashie forest is a purpose built mountain bike centre with challenging and unique features.
