Crichton Memorial Church

Designed by architect Sydney Mitchell, Crichton Memorial Church was completed in 1897. The cathedral-style church is richly detailed and has a square tower 123ft high. The exterior is of red sandstone from Locharbriggs, Dumfries, whilst the elegant interior features pink sandstone from nearby Thornhill. Ornate oak roof. Stone carving by William Vickers of Glasgow. The boldly designed floor is of Irish and Sicilian marble. Impressive stained glass by Oscar Paterson of Glasgow 1896 features throughout. Pulpit and choir stalls date from 1897.
