Port Charlotte

'The Queen of the Rhinns', Port Charlotte is a very pretty village on the island of Islay.
Terraces of small, single-storey whitewashed cottages line the foreshore of a sandy cove looking out over Loch Indaal: Port Charlotte is probably the prettiest village on Islay. Local people call it the Queen of the Rhinns, the Rhinns meaning promontory. The fascinating history of Islay is explained in Port Charlotte's Museum of Islay Life. The Wildlife Information Centre, housed in a former distillery warehouse, is a good place to take kids on a rainy day.
