Grangemouth is a town situated on the Firth of Forth about 4 miles east of Falkirk.
Originally known as Sealock, the settlement was established in the late 18th century and thrived as the link between the eastern end of the Forth & Clyde Canal and the River Forth. The town's industrial heritage continues today with the giant BP petrochemical plant - a remarkable sight at night - and with Grangemouth Port, the largest container terminal and the busiest deep-water port in Scotland.
Grangemouth is well served for sports facilites, boasting a major sports complex, golf course and artificial ski slope.
