Gairloch
Gairloch is a holiday resort and base for exploring spectacular Wester Ross and the north-west Highlands.
The holiday resort of Gairloch is situated on the shore of Loch Gairloch amongst the awe-inspiring scenery of Wester Ross. There are several good sandy beaches in the area, such as the brilliantly-named Big Sand, and especially at Redpoint, with lovely views to Raasay, Skye and the Western Isles. There is plenty of rocky coastline to explore as well, such as at the Rubha Reidh lighthouse, from where you might see whales, dolphins and porpoises offshore, and enjoy a remarkable vista spreading north to the volcanic peaks of Assynt.
Take a boat trip from Gairloch for a chance of seeing whales and friends. There is also the Gairloch Heritage Museum for a rainy day.
