Mallaig

Mallaig is a busy fishing and ferry port on the north-west coast.
In Mallaig you can soak up the atmosphere of a working fishing port. Explore the town's history at Mallaig Heritage Centre, or get a good look at the denizens of the Scottish deep at Mallaig Marine World.
Sample some seafood while you're in town before you catch the ferry to Skye or the Small Isles - Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna. Explore the 'Rough Bounds' - as west Lochaber has long been known on account of its rugged landscape and historical inaccessibility, particularly Knoydart and the Glenelg peninsula. If you are not as intrepid, but fancy a stretch of the legs and some great scenery, take the walking trail to Mallaigmore, a small cove with a picture-postcard white sand beach.
