Morar

Morar boasts a beautiful white sand beach and Scotland's other monster.
Stretching for eight miles or so north of Arisaig is a string of stunning white-sand beaches backed by flowery machair, with barren granite hills and moorland rising up behind and wonderful seaward views of Eigg and Rum. Morar has a stunning beach with white sand and turquoise water, where scenes from the film Local Hero were shot.
Loch Morar - rumoured to be the home of a monster called Morag, a lesser-known relative of Nessie - runs east of Morar village into the heart of a huge wilderness area. Hemmed in by heather-decked mountains, it featured in the movie Rob Roy.
