Nairn

A snowy Nairn on a dark winter's afternoon

Information enquiry

Nairn is a traditional seaside resort on the Moray Firth near Inverness, and one of the driest and sunniest places in Scotland.

Nairn has always been blessed by a fine climate (little rain, lots of sun) - but in 19th century it was the reputed medicinal properties of the local sea water (and the arrival of the steam train) that brought thousands of Victorians flocking to the town. Today pleasure boats ply the harbour, while Nairn Museum and Fishertown Museum explore the town's history, recalling the its time as a busy herring fishing port.

During the summer months, Nairn hosts an extensive programme of family entertainment and major events including the Nairn Agricultural Show and the Nairn Highland Games. The town also boasts two championship golf courses.
