Blantyre
Blantyre, birthplace of the famous explorer David Livingstone, is situated on the River Clyde 8 miles southeast of Glasgow.
The area was a large manufacturer of cotton-related products during the 18th century and was heavily involved in coal mining during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Today the area is home to numerous attractions including the David Livingstone Centre and Blantyre leisure centre.
