Information enquiry

Coatbridge is a medium-sized town situated in North Lanarkshire, some 9 miles east of Glasgow.

During the 19th century, Coatbridge became a major centre for mining and the production of iron and steel. With such heavy industries now long gone, the town's Summerlee Heritage Park - 'Scotland's Noisiest Museum' - gives visitors a fascinating insight into life in Coatbridge during the heady days coal, steam and iron.

These industries attracted many immigrants from Ireland and the town's Irish connections remain strong today, with a large St Patrick's Day Festival celebrated here every year.

Other attractions in and around Coatbridge include Drumpellier Country Park, which provides relaxing walks among woodland and loch-side surroundings, opportunities for fishing and boating and a number of good playparks for young children. For the more active, The Time Capsule leisure centre offers ice skating and water park facilities.

The town is close to major motorway networks and enjoys excellent rail links across the central belt.
