Situated at a height of 1164ft in the Cairngorms National Park, Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands.
Tomintoul is a perfect example of an 18th Scottish Highland planned village with a central square and many Georgian and Victorian buildings. It is the ideal base from which to explore the Glenlivet Estate, north-eastern Cairngorms and Speyside Malt Whisky Trail. In July Tomintoul hosts one of the longest established Highland Games in Scotland.
Tomintoul is situated on the Glenlivet Crown Estate where there are over one hundred miles of easy access walking and biking trails. Other outdoor pursuits available include fine fishing beats, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, and in winter a variety of snow sports are available at the nearby ski resort.
