Ceres

The Fife Folk Museum

Information enquiry

Home to the Fife Folk Museum, Ceres is a couple of miles south-east of Cupar.

Occupying several well-preserved 17th-19th-century buildings, the Fife Folk Museum exhibits all manner of historical farming and agricultural paraphernalia. The pillory that used to restrain miscreants on market days still stands at the entrance of the old burgh tollbooth, and at the village crossroads is an unusual 17th-century stone carving of a man in a three-cornered hat with a toothy grin and a beer glass on his knee, said to be a depiction of a former provost.
