Leuchars

Leuchars, five miles north of St Andrews, is known for its RAF base.

Low-flying jets from RAF Leuchars patrol the area. There is a beautiful 12th-century church in the village, with fine Norman stonework. Romantic Earlshall Castle, just east of Leuchars, is the home of the Baron and Baroness of Earlshall, whose ancestor, Sir William Bruce, built the castle in 1546.
