Kinlochewe

The small settlement of Kinlochewe, situated at the south-eastern end of Loch Maree, is a good base for exploring the surrounding hills.
The Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve is the UK's oldest wildlife sanctuary. Parts of the reserve are forested with Caledonian pinewood, and it is home to pine marten, wildcat, fox, badger, Scottish crossbill, buzzard and golden eagle. There's also a wide range of flora, with the higher rocky slopes producing spectacular natural alpine rock gardens. A mile north of Kinlochewe, the Beinn Eighe Visitor Centre gives details of the area's walks and wildlife.
