Knoydart

Looking down a jetty over Loch Hourn to the mountains of Knoydart

Information enquiry

Knoydart is one of the most dramatic and unspoilt places in Scotland.

Fjord-like sea lochs flank the peak-clad peninsula of Knoydart - a wilderness accessible only by boat from Mallaig or Glenelg, or two days' hike over the mountains where Bonnie Prince Charlie is supposed to have taken refuge after Culloden. Most (about 70) of Knoydart residents live in the hamlet of Inverie, nestled beside a sheltered bay on the south side of the peninsula. It boasts mainland Britain's most remote pub.
