Plockton

PEOPLE IN A SUNNY BEER GARDEN AT PLOCKTON- A VILLAGE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF LOCH CARRON, LOCHALSH

Information enquiry

The particularly picturesque village of Plockton lies at the seaward end of islet-studded Loch Carron, north of Kyle of Lochalsh.

Plockton is comprised of a chocolate-box row of neatly painted cottages ranged around the curve of a tiny harbour, backed by a craggy landscape of heather and pine. In high season it is packed full of tourists, yachties and artists, making use of Plockton's uniquely brilliant light. During the summer, the waterfront, with its row of shaggy palm trees, even shaggier Highland cattle, flower gardens and pleasure boats, is invariably dotted with painters dabbing at their easels. Boats head out of the harbour on seal-spotting or fishing trips.
