Fort William & Lochaber

Stupendous sunsets, snow-capped peaks, mighty lochs, beautiful beaches: feel the freedom in your heart in lovely Lochaber.
Lochaber is a land of mountains, lochs and sea, an adventure playground offering a range of exhilarating outdoor experiences: hill walking, ice climbing, skiing, snowboarding, canyoning, canoeing, paragliding and mountain biking.
Visitors are well catered for with two excellent ski resorts at Nevis Range and Glencoe, and many related services are available such as experienced mountain and activity guides, and equipment hire shops in the resort of Fort William and elsewhere.
If extreme activities are not your thing, you can enjoy and explore Lochaber in more leisurely fashion: driving is dramatic, often passing through incredible scenery. But life moves pretty fast, so stop and look around once in a while. There's jaw-dropping Glencoe, with its sad and bloody history; the wild grandeur of the Ardnamurchan peninsula; the beautiful beaches at Sanna, Arisaig and Morar (look out for Morag the monster) and, of course, Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. Breath in the scenery on leisure cruises on Lochs Linnhe and Shiel, take a ferry trip to the Small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Canna and Muck, pay your respects at Glenfinnan and the Commando Memorial, say hello to a hairy Highland Coo and keep your eyes peeled for wild things from dolphins to eagles.
