Information enquiry

Dominated by sand dunes, Sanday is the largest of the northerly Orkney islands.

The appropriately-named Sanday is mostly made up sand dunes, which gives it some brilliant beahes - fine sweeps of white sand and clear blue sea. All this sand is good for the soil, which is very fertile, and so the way of life for most islanders is an agricultural one. The island is an archaeology hotspot, with numerous sites of interests including cairns, brochs and burial mounds.
