Culbin Forest - Cloddymoss
The relentless drift of sand during the 1600's engulfed all in it's path, farmland and dwellings alike. The Forestry Commission began planting in 1922 on the sand dunes which had been thatched branches to stop the drifting sand. By the late 1960's the dunes had stopped moving.
Unique geomorphology, rare birds, insects, plants and lichens make this well worth a visit (Site of Special Scientific Interest)
